Updating the player
Media24 updates the player over the air. When your operator activates a new release, every device learns about it and offers to install it — but on customer-supplied hardware, someone must confirm the install.
How an update reaches the device
Section titled “How an update reaches the device”The operator activates a release for the whole fleet. Each device learns about it within one heartbeat (about 30 seconds), then downloads and verifies the new APK in the background. Nothing changes on screen while this happens.
Install the update
Section titled “Install the update”When the download is ready, the player shows a banner in the bottom-right corner: “Update ready · <version>” with an Install now button (which you can also reach with a TV remote). Tapping Install now brings up Android’s own install confirmation — the player cannot install silently on your own hardware.
If the install fails, the player shows “Update failed. Keeping current version.” and keeps running the version you already had.
After the install
Section titled “After the install”The player relaunches itself automatically after the update installs. Your content and the device’s enrollment both survive the update — you do not need to reconnect the screen.
Trigger an update remotely
Section titled “Trigger an update remotely”You do not have to wait for the heartbeat. In the Manager, the Update player command (on a device’s CONTROLS) forces the update check immediately. See Devices and Remote management and commands.
