Manager: frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most about the Media24 Manager. Each answer links to the article with the full explanation.

Why does my device say “Not connected”?

Section titled “Why does my device say “Not connected”?”

A screen shows Not connected when the Manager has not heard from it recently. Presence is heartbeat-based: if a device stops reporting, its lease lapses and it flips to offline within about a minute. Check the device is powered on and has network. See Understand device statuses and, for the device side, Player troubleshooting.

When START fails, the editor shows one general message rather than the exact reason. The most common blockers are an empty zone or template, a file that is still processing or not approved, no confirmed screen in the target, or no targeted screen with an active subscription. Work through the checklist in The campaign editor; if the block is about subscriptions, see Publishing fails saying no screen has an active subscription.

I pressed Save on a live campaign — why did nothing change on screens?

Section titled “I pressed Save on a live campaign — why did nothing change on screens?”

Save is not the same as Start. Saving a live campaign stores your new revision but takes the campaign back to draft, and the changes do not reach screens until you press START again. See Editing a live campaign: SAVE vs START.

I paused my campaign — why is content still on the screens?

Section titled “I paused my campaign — why is content still on the screens?”

Pause does not retract content — the schedule still governs what plays, so screens keep showing the campaign. To clear screens, use Stop (or Archive), which sends an empty playlist. See Campaign statuses and lifecycle.

Why doesn’t a screen I added later play my existing campaign?

Section titled “Why doesn’t a screen I added later play my existing campaign?”

Campaigns are compiled for the screens that exist at publish time, so a screen you enroll afterwards does not receive an already-published campaign. Open the campaign and press START again to re-publish it to the current screen list. See New screens need a re-publish.

Why did my upload fail with a storage error?

Section titled “Why did my upload fail with a storage error?”

An upload that would push you over your storage quota fails, and the message does not spell out why. Check the storage ring: if it is at or near full, delete media you no longer need or extend storage. See When you run out of space.

I edited a playlist — why didn’t campaigns using it change?

Section titled “I edited a playlist — why didn’t campaigns using it change?”

A playlist dropped into a zone that already has content is copied as a one-time snapshot, so later edits do not affect it. Even a playlist linked into an empty zone (a live reference) only updates a campaign after you re-publish that campaign. See Playlists.

Why did turning on geotargeting drop some of my screens?

Section titled “Why did turning on geotargeting drop some of my screens?”

A screen with no saved location cannot be proven to sit inside a zone, so it is excluded the moment geotargeting is on. Set the screen’s location on the Devices screen, or turn geotargeting off. See Geotargeting.

Why did my repeating scheduled command run only once?

Section titled “Why did my repeating scheduled command run only once?”

The scheduler lets you set a repeat interval and an end date, but the server currently runs only the first occurrence — repeating is not yet delivered. Treat a scheduled command as one-shot for now. See Schedule a command.

Why don’t Reboot and Power off work on my box?

Section titled “Why don’t Reboot and Power off work on my box?”

REBOOT and POWER OFF need a device with power control (installed as Device Owner). On a typical bring-your-own or sideloaded Android box the Manager refuses these and they never run — use RESTART APP, which works everywhere. See Control a device remotely and Remote management and commands.

Why can’t my teammate open a folder I gave them access to?

Section titled “Why can’t my teammate open a folder I gave them access to?”

Folder access can be granted or denied per folder, and a deny always wins over a workspace-wide permission. If a member holds the right role but still can’t open a folder, check for a deny grant on that folder or one above it. See Grant or deny folder access.

Why is the interface in English again on another computer?

Section titled “Why is the interface in English again on another computer?”

The interface language is saved per browser, not per account. Open the Manager in another browser or on another computer and it starts in English until you switch it there too. See Change the interface language.

You must verify your email before you can sign in. Until then, sign-in returns the generic “Email or password is incorrect.” message with no resend control at the login screen — request a fresh link with the Resend button on the post-signup “check your inbox” notice instead. See Create an account and sign in.

Insights is a proof-of-play delivery dashboard; visitor and audience analytics (demographics, heatmaps) need a camera extension that is not connected, and the Manager says so rather than showing invented figures. See About visitor analytics.

The Templates screen is a management view — templates arrive pre-installed, and there is no “create template” flow in the Manager. Pick a layout from the pre-installed catalog and use it in a campaign instead. See Templates.
